DJ Noir is a native of Los Angeles and has been a fixture in jungle/dnb since its migration to North America in the mid 90’s. It wasn’t until co-founding Juke Bounce Werk nearly 20 years later, would she and the JBW collective forge the opportunity to bring two cultures together in the city of angels.
In the mid 2000’s, the global underground saw the fusion of UK Jungle/DnB and Chicago Footwork at which time saw Noir and JBW at the forefront at their home base. They bridged their collective networks on both sides with dynamic event curation and music collaborations.
Juke Bounce Werk laid the groundwork in the expansion of Chicago Ghetto House, Juke and Footwork music in their native hometown of Los Angeles, California in 2013.
JBW began as a local monthly event that spring which flourished into a weekly staple, hosting the likes of the footwork dance culture’s innovators and heavyweights paired with local legends in LA representing every facet of underground clubland.
The collective has grown to international status with a total of 12 members across the US, Singapore and New Zealand. They continue to produce dance events and showcases worldwide and regularly release digital and limited vinyl projects by their artist roster. JBW has successfully dismantled genre boundaries by incorporating global underground sounds to illustrate their rich history and relationship within all styles of dance music.
