DJ Sepia takes the sonic controls at 55ml for the first installment of Concrete Jungle, a night dedicated to the underground sounds of hip hop, reggae, drum ‘n’ bass & jungle! Born of the decendents of people stolen from Africa, these music styles share a common cultural history: one of suffering, emancipation and cultural rebirth. It is the rawness, the directness and intensity of this music that has captivated people on and off dancefloors for the past four decades.
In the mix, expect artists as seemingly diverse as KRS-ONE and Mos Def, through Damien and Stephen Marley to the ragga stars of jungle like Shy FX and MC Spyda. Part history lesson, mostly party, this session features guest DJ Metalman, bringing his own preferred flavors of d’n’b and jungle to the forefront.
