Welcome back to a new season on 0860.fm. First up a tape recorded by @charlie_mcfarley of Kool FM in 1994. Written on the tape is DJ Hype, 94.5 but on closer inspection the tape contains many snippets of different shows – Hype with Teka and Remadee, Pressure X with Cutlass and Times 2, Tonic with Bluesy Gee and Remadee. These mad mashup tapes were actually quite commoin and everyone had one – they’d live by the radio and when you heard a tune you liked you’d record.
0860 is an album, mixtape, radio station and interview series that explores the history and legacy of Pirate Radio and its importance in the development of UK underground music.
