ctoafn running the controls on 081118 for The Ones & Twos. Dont get much of a chance to play my old wax so thats exactly what I did. Havent played some of this stuff in 5+ years so was good to dust ’em off. Bit more work to play vinyl and run a desk, do mic duties, run a comp and keep the vinyl running but was totally worth it. That’s barely a dent in the collection so hopefully will get to do this more on the regular. Big ups to all the regulars tuning in!!!

The Collective presents…
18 months ago, we filled a warehouse with strobe lights and world-class Drum & Bass. We return to do the same all over again come Saturday November 3rd as we bring you one of the biggest acts in Neurofunk right now – Mefjus & Maksim MC!
More info to come! Tickets available SOON…
< Mefjus >
So you want to know more about Mefjus? Wise move. Let’s talk…
Based out of Linz, north Austria, Martin Schober is a singular protagonist at the forefront of this beguiling game we call Drum & Bass. He likes hip-hop, skateboarding, schnitzel, Leibniz biscuits and long walks in the sunset, but he’s most respected for how he traipses across electronic music’s wildest terrains with total boundary abandonment… And is regarded as a leading influential new-gen figure in the genre.
From his agenda-setting halftime twist of ‘Sunday Crunk’ to his rolling, emotional collab cameo on Camo & Krooked’s acclaimed album ‘Mosaik’. From his entrance into the Fabriclive mix hall of fame with a mix album comprising entirely of his own productions (‘Fabriclive 95’) to his Drum & Bass Arena Award-winning debut album ‘Emulation’, Mefjus’s signature sound has been felt across the furthest expanses of the genre since he emerged in the early 2010s.
Now working closely with Vision – the label run by kindred studio spirits Noisia – Mefjus continues to fine-tune his musical syntax, technical dexterity, eye for detail and deft groove sensibilities. The latest chapter to savour this on-going flux of development is his second album ‘Manifest’.
Released April 2018, ‘Manifest’ is the sound of Mefjus 2.0. After several years in the studio wilderness, exploring the dark science of song structure, musicality and textural contrasts, ‘Manifest’ captures a new mindset for Mefjus. Raw, energetic, playful and subversive, ‘Manifest’ is the most personal, diverse and daring body of work to date. Not so much as reminder of why he occupies such a unique position in drum & bass but a straight-up statement of intent.
So now you know. And knowledge is power. Thanks for reading.
< Maksim >
Give this man a sign, give this man a signal. Be it in the studio or hosting alongside Mefjus, Maksim has been making serious noise across the globe and continues to establish himself as a top-tier MC. If you don’t know, get to know!
Various labels, festivals and collaborations has seen Maksim spit bars for Mefjus, Document One, Tigerlight, Culprate, Bowsar, Shyun, and many more; we are absolutely hyped to have Maksim MC in town.

< ANNIX >
Having cemented themselves firmly as one of the hottest prospects in the UK Drum and Bass scene, it is with no surprise that that Annix’s debut album ‘Inception’ has been regarded as one of the most anticipated underground releases of the year. Consisting of members Konichi and Decimal Bass, Annix have been slaves to the studio since early 2006, identifying their musical backgrounds as the driving force behind their passion for Drum and Bass.
Citing their addition to the Urban Agency roster as a significant step in their recent progression, Annix have swiftly moved up the ladder in terms of live performance, and have an impressive selection of shows already under their belt. Support from the likes of Kmag and D&B Arena has certainly turned a few heads in the past year, and the October release of ‘Inception’ is one of the significant events in the 2013 Playaz Recordings calendar.
The Annix affiliation with Playaz manifested itself late in 2012 when ‘Late Manouvre’ found its way on to the ‘The Flavours Vol. 4’ EP, alongside the likes of Majistrate and Optiv. This catapulted Annix into 2013, with consistent support from DJ Hype on his Kiss FM show, as well as a release on DJ Hazard’s esteemed Radius Recordings. From here, Annix were selected by Hype to perform at the Playaz Easter Special, which also allowed them to compile their first Fabric Live mix for the iconic London venue. In Playaz, Annix have stated they now have a label that they ‘are 100% happy with’, and despite a quiet few months of writing and perfecting their material, Annix insist their new batch of songs will ‘cause some damage’! and are certainly ones to watch moving into 2014.
< State of Mind >
Hailing from Auckland, New Zealand, State of Mind are the duo of Stu Maxwell and Patrick Hawkins. They formed in 2005 and have released 4 studio albums and 1 live album.
The list of labels worked with reads like a who’s who of drum and bass. It includes Blackout, BSE, Universal, Uprising, Shogun, Project 51, Viper, Subtitles, Eatbrain, DATE, Citrus, Bad COmpany, 31 Records, CIA and more. State of Mind are now signed to Black Sun Empire’s flagship ‘Blackout’ label.
Not content being more producers, State of Mind also run their own label, SOM Music. With over 30 releases from a wide range of global artists, SOM Music is regarded as a label at the forefront of harder DnB. It is distributed by Triple Vision and Rhythm Method.
Finally, State of Mind are well known as the former hosts of popular ‘Next Level’ 95BFM drum and bass show. It currently continues in podcast format.
< Tantrum Desire >
Jay Faleye otherwise known as Tantrum Desire, is an electronic producer/DJ from London, UK. His love and passion for Drum & Bass music escalated since the early 2000s and has remained strong ever since.
Dividing his studio time, Tantrum Desire has been busy with his live shows throughout the years, touring in many cities across the UK, Europe, USA and Australia.
In addition to this, he has affiliated with labels such as Universal Island Records, Ministry of Sound, 3beat, with also building a history in high demand remixes for likes of The Wanted, Laidback Luke, Rusko, Matrix & Futurebound, Wideboys, Utah Saints, the list goes on.
The future is bright for the fact that Tantrum Desire has become one of the most exciting production outfits to date, with the fire to innovate and take things to the next level.

Drum & Bass would not be the same without Drumsound & Bassline Smith (aka Andy Wright, Benjamin Wiggett and Simon Bassline Smith). Together the trio have body-slammed dancefloors from Derby to Durban and established themselves as three of the finest Drum & Bass tastemakers on the planet, courtesy of the blue chip label Technique Recordings – an imprint that will celebrate 20 years of killer dancefloor joints in 2019.
The magic has been bubbling ever since Wright and Wiggett met Bassline Smith at one of Derby’s mentalist Technique club nights in the summer of 1998. The Drumsound pair had been crafting beats for a year, having originally started as a crew of six artists, while Bassline Smith had carved out a reputation as one of D&B’s most influential players, with a career stretching back to the early ‘80s.
Together, they enjoy an impressively diverse arsenal of music that’s ensured their place atop the D&B scene for over a decade. A peep through Wright’s background and you’ll find he’s a classically trained musician with a strong background in indie rock – an ideal platform for harnessing the energetic groove that makes Drumsound & Smith’s productions slide over the dancefloor. His Drumsound compadre Wigget has been a diehard D&B head since the womb, while also tipping his hat to his Jamaican roots. Veteran Bassline Smith has been a funk and soul connoisseur for over 25 years and knows his way around a dancefloor blindfolded.

< DELTA HEAVY >
Simon James and Ben Hall – AKA bass music masters Delta Heavy – first met at Nottingham University back in ’03. It’s a friendship and partnership that’s proved pivotal to both of them both personally and professionally. As a duo, their respective skill sets were perfectly matched: Simon was the one with the more traditional musical background while Ben had a penchant for sound engineering. Both loved DJ culture though and both spun. United by a love of underground club nights like Stealth and Detonate in Nottingham, their passion for music from drum ‘n’ bass to house was honed after many a night and early morning dancing ‘til dawn. Needless to say, after they graduated, Messrs James and Hall made their way to London. Wasting no time with their electronic ambitions, both acquired computer software. Says Si over coffee in Kings Cross: “Because we both had the same interests in music, we thought we’d align our knowledge.”
“When we started coming through via Ram, the genre barriers had dropped around bass music a lot and we were keen to bridge those gaps and work across different genres: we said to Ram at the very beginning that we didn’t want to just make pure drum ‘n’ bass music, we wanted to do something different. Some people aren’t happy when you do a lot of different stuff so finding a way that incorporates different genres that feels like us took some time. When we made our album, we found that comfortable space.” says Simon.
Looking ahead, Delta Heavy have several key releases in the bag, including a collaboration with Dirty Audio which is being released on both Ram and Monstercat from North America.
Are there grand plans? We’ll let Ben have the final word. “When we write these tunes, you never know when things are going to pop up! Are there grand plans? Just to keep writing music! So for now, … the live show, that’s the main focus,” smiles Ben.
< SEEK N DESTROY >

< FLOWIDUS >
Aspiring Australian based duo Flowidus burst onto the scene and the Ram Records landscape in 2016, with their debut Program release, the From The Storm EP, which exhibited their smooth production, variety and evolving style. Now, the budding production partnership made up of Spillage and Dealt Fairly are back for an even an even bigger 2017. Already having tracks featured on the Ram Records compilation series and having supported DC Breaks on the Australian leg of their worldwide Different Breed tour, Flowidus are now set to unleash their sophomore release on Program, in the form of No Matter / Zulu.
Born just prior to the early 90’s rise of drum & bass, producers Raphael and Wolf have rooted their sound in the form, both as solo artists, and now collaboratively. Their combined passion for good vibes, and being able to share that with their fans was what defined their stage name FLOWIDUS, with both producers being quoted as saying “we want people to come on a journey with us”.
The duo have fused their individual styles to create their sound; one which encapsulates their shared love of driving bass lines and melodic dance floor drum & bass.
Flowidus’ individual parts met at a drum & bass gig in Perth at the beginning of 2015. At the time, Raphael and Wolf were already on the rise as strong solo producers, but after working together on a few tracks, agreed that collectedly they were capable of even more.

One of the most widely respected names in Drum & Bass, Brookes Brothers are gearing up to release their second album, ‘Orange Lane’, a 13-track LP filled to the brim with upbeat and soulful production. The album features a variety of vocalists, including the soothing sounds of ShezAr and Bossman Birdie’s smooth rap breakdown – while industry favourite Charlotte Haining lends her grace and charm to ‘Waiting Right Here’, Pierre Da Silva adds warmth to the acoustic sounds of ‘Times Of Trouble’ and album closer, ‘We Got Love’.
Combining soul, funk, disco and a whole lot more in a way no one else can, the Brookes Brothers have truly reached new heights with this LP. ‘Orange Lane’ is destined to be a modern classic.
< TREi >
TREi, has been a leader in Drum & Bass scene down under since 2007. TREi’s association with Viper Recordings dates back to 2011 where he made his debut with the single, ‘The Light / Mumbo Jumbo’ and a series of tracks featured on various Viper Compilations such as ‘Habituated’ and ‘Placebo’, as well as smash hit and Beatport #1, ‘Seeds’ in 2014. Furthermore, TREi went on to release another huge track with Viper in the form of his remix of Tali’s ‘Forces’ from Viper’s ‘Decade of Viper’ 10 year anniversary album.
