Guest Mix #2 – DJ LX: Jungle Hardcoreism Part 2

Back by popular demand, it’s DJ LX @jungleteknoftw with a second selection of tearing hardcore jungle. Some words from the man:

The 1st mixtape I was given was Grooverider at Universe Tribal Gathering in April 93. “140 miles and travelling at the speed of the Grooverider” At the tender age of 15 the way he took you on a musical journey through Hardcore, Jungle, Techno and every sub genre in between blew my impressionable teenage mind. I was instantly hooked and had to devour as much of this music as I could find. I was very lucky that in London there were loads of pirate stations transmitting the freshest Hardcore every weekend. For breakbeat culture in the UK, ’93 was such a special year as producers shied away from the toytown cheesy sounds that had made in into the pop charts and started really exploring how much they could chop up the Amen break over some deep sub basses.

For this mix I have done a rough and ready pirate radio style tribute to Don FM, one of the stations that stood out for playing that sweet spot between Jungle and Hardcore.
